Faith-Ann paints with images - layering elements of photos she has collected over the years into dynamic digital compositions that recreate the somatic sensation of memory. “I started creating these digital photo collages a decade ago because they seem to reflect memory and the unconscious mind better—how our thoughts are interwoven with so many visions and emotions. I layer a photo of grandmother’s old kimono fabric which reminds me of her, with a photo of the trail of clouds in the sky after she passed, over photos of my own abstract paintings in mourning of her; layers and layers of memory and meaning that shape into starbursts of sensation and feeling.”
